Who is it for?

Are you considering a hair transplant in Vienna to address your specific hair concerns? Get personalized advice and receive a clear, understandable assessment along with a custom treatment plan.

Progressive Hair Loss

This is the most common reason why men opt for a hair transplant. Some choose to act at the first signs of hair loss, others wait until more significant thinning occurs. DHI offers solutions for all stages.

Aesthetic Correction of the Hairline

The hairline is the boundary between the forehead and hair—this includes receding temples or a high forehead. A hair transplant can permanently lower and improve the hairline. Our doctors are experts in this field.

Aesthetic Hair Densification

Often, the issue isn’t bald spots but a lack of density. The major challenge with this procedure is not to damage existing hair follicles in the recipient area – DHI is capable of handling this precisely!

Previous Hair Transplant

Many patients come to us after already having undergone a hair transplant. If hair loss has continued and/or the results were unsatisfactory, choosing the best provider for a correction is crucial.

Hair Corrections After Accidents

Accidents can affect scalp or facial hair and lead to scarring. Hair transplanted using the DHI method can effectively and naturally cover such scars.

After Gender Reassignment

DHI supports individuals after gender reassignment, when scalp and facial hair do not yet meet new aesthetic expectations despite hormonal changes.

Why I chose DHI as a partner

A few years ago, after extensive research and careful consideration, I decided to add the rapidly growing field of hair transplantation to my range of cosmetic surgical services.

To do this, I entered into a partnership with DHI Global, the worldwide pioneer in hair transplantation. I work closely with our consultants and the treating medical team to ensure that all personal, medical, and organizational aspects before, during, and after your procedure are handled optimally.

The Procedure of a DHI Hair Transplant

The DHI method is a state-of-the-art autologous hair transplantation technique that has been continuously developed for over 15 years. The procedure differs from other methods in several aspects – here is a brief overview:

Step 1: Preparation

After scheduling your appointment with us, a thorough preparation for the hair transplant follows, including detailed medical consultation with one of our doctors. We will inform you comprehensively about the steps before, during, and after the procedure—either in person at our Centrum Ästheticum or via phone.

Step 2: Hair Extraction

The hair is extracted on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Using a motorized micro-punch, the doctor extracts individual hair follicles from the donor area—typically the back of the head or the rear temples. These hairs are genetically resistant to hair loss, even after being transplanted to the recipient area. Unlike the traditional FUT method, no incisions are made during extraction.

Step 3: Follicle Storage

The harvested hair follicles are counted, sorted, and stored in a special solution at a constant temperature to support their survival and growth after implantation. In the DHI method, the follicles retain their original structure, leading to a high survival rate (>93%).

Step 4: Implantation

The implantation is performed using the DHI Implanter, a specialized tool with an extremely fine tip (<1.0 mm). This allows for precise placement of each follicle under light local anesthesia. The DHI Implanter enables excellent, natural-looking results and has clear advantages over other techniques—as seen in our before-and-after images.

Step 5: Aftercare

After the procedure, the doctor will go over the care instructions for the following weeks. Our medical team is available 24/7 for any questions. If needed, a personal check-up appointment can be arranged.

In the weeks and months following the procedure, we stay in regular contact—for example, through photo updates or in-person follow-up appointments. Visible improvements often begin within a few weeks, with the final result usually becoming apparent after 9–12 months.

What is the DHI method?

The DHI method (Direct Hair Implantation) is an innovative hair transplantation technique in which hair follicles are implanted directly into the scalp. Using a special implanter pen, the hairs can be placed precisely without needing to cut channels beforehand. More details about the method can be found on the DHI Vienna website.

Who is the DHI method suitable for?

The DHI method is suitable for men and women suffering from hair loss or thinning hair. It is especially appropriate for small to medium-sized hair transplants and for patients who value a minimally invasive treatment. Visit the DHI Vienna patient information page to learn more.

What distinguishes the DHI method from other hair transplant techniques?

Unlike the FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction), DHI transplants the hair follicles without first cutting channels. This reduces the risk of scarring and improves the survival rate of the transplanted hairs. More information about the advantages of the DHI method can be found here.

How does the treatment work?

After detailed consultation and planning, the hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and implanted directly into the desired areas using the implanter pen. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes several hours depending on the number of grafts needed. You can also view the treatment process on the DHI Vienna website.

Is the DHI method painful?

The treatment is generally pain-free since it is performed under local anesthesia. After the procedure, mild tightness may occur, but this usually subsides quickly. Further information about your safety can be found here.

How long does it take to see the final result?

After the transplantation, the transplanted hairs often fall out within the first few weeks – this is normal. New hair growth begins after about 3 months, and the final result is typically visible after 12–18 months.

Are there risks or side effects?

The DHI method is considered safe and has a low risk of complications. Occasionally, swelling, redness, or mild infections may occur, which are easily treatable. Read more about the safety of the method here.

How much does a hair transplant with the DHI method cost?

The cost depends on the number of grafts required and the complexity of the procedure. We will be happy to provide a personalized quote after a consultation. Visit our cost overview page on DHI Vienna.

How should I prepare for the treatment?

Before the treatment, you should avoid blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and smoking. We will inform you about all important preparation steps in a detailed consultation. Preparation guidelines can also be found here.

Can I return to work right after the DHI treatment?

Most patients can resume light activities after one to two days. However, swelling or redness may be visible for a few days, so we recommend a short recovery period.

How can I schedule an appointment?

You can easily schedule an appointment by phone or via our contact form on the website. We are happy to provide you with personal and non-binding advice on your options. Use the online booking option on DHI Vienna to secure an appointment quickly and easily.
