Eyelid Surgery – More Than Just Removing Skin
Drooping eyelids are caused by excess skin on the upper eyelid. However, sagging eyebrows or protruding fat pads often play a significant role as well.
A successful correction therefore requires a precise analysis of the entire eye area—the upper eyelids, brow position, and fat compartments must all be evaluated together. The goal is not to create a “surgically altered” look, but rather a natural-looking eye with a harmonious overall appearance.
Since 1997, I have specialized in cosmetic eye surgery and have performed approximately 1,500 eyelid procedures. This experience enables me to develop a personalized, anatomically sound, and long-term solution for every individual case.

Causes and Symptoms of Drooping Eyelids
Elastin and collagen provide elasticity to the skin. As we age, their levels decrease—resulting in excess skin on the upper eyelid. This makes the eyes look tired or sad.
However, drooping eyelids do not occur only in older adults. Young patients can also be affected due to genetic factors. This is not a medical condition and can be corrected surgically if medically indicated.
Contributing factors include: nicotine use, lack of sleep, intense sunlight, alcohol, and stress.
Upper Eyelid Lift
In some cases, small pockets of fat are also corrected. The key is finding the right balance—neither too much nor too little tightening.
The incision is made in the natural crease of the eyelid (usually 7–8 mm), so that the scar is barely visible afterward.
